The Odette Quilt Class with Ricky Tims
Join award-winning quilter, designer, author, teacher, and musician Ricky Tims for a special FREE four-part class to create The Odette Quilt — a stunning 48" x 48" project designed by Kaye England.
This quilt pays tribute to Odette Ueltschi, a trailblazer in the sewing world and the visionary force behind some of BERNINA's most groundbreaking innovations. As BERNINA's president starting in 1979 — an extraordinary role for a woman in Switzerland at the time — Odette revolutionized home sewing with advancements like the electric foot pedal, the first stretch stitch function, the BERNINA Free Hand System, and BERNINA's first computerized sewing machine. To honor Odette, Kaye England created the Odette block and has published a pattern book with variations of making the Odette Quilt.
In this class, Ricky will be sharing Kaye’s methods and inspiration. He will be your guide through the quilt making journey — from cutting and constructing the Odette blocks to assembling the top with sashing and borders. He will top it all off with his original quilt patterns and teach you an amazing marking technique for free-motion quilting. These will include a look at the custom OESD quilting designs he created exclusively for this project.
Kits will be available starting this Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in The Quilt Show store to make the Countryside and True Blue colorway versions of The Odette Quilt.
The Odette Quilt Class with Ricky Tims will begin on August 1, 2025 and continue on August 4, August 11, and August 18. See both colorways of the quilt, Countryside and True Blue, below.
