The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Mariposa" by Julia McLeod
Do a puzzle of Julia McLeod's quilt, Mariposa.
Mariposa started life as a tablecloth that Julia found at an Oakland white elephant sale. Julia believes the tablecloth is from around the 1920s, and she appliquéd a large Mariposa Lily in the center and added the silk border to frame it. With this quilt, as with her other work, Julia likes to take the material she has found out from the dusty drawer where it was kept and bring it into the light of day to be appreciated.
