Featured Quilt - The Superior Threads Master Award For Thread Artistry at Houston 2024

Solitude by Judith Phelps won The Superior Threads Master Award For Thread Artistry (Sponsored by Superior Threads) at Houston International Quilt Festival 2024.

Judith says of her quilt, “The inspiration for this quilt came from a photo taken by Jimmy Debacker. It is used with his permission. I love the way he captured the sky, water, and boat and gave a sense of isolation. The quilt was hand-painted and then thread-painted. It is three-layers and “made-for-storytellers” with the theme—"Water Works.” The quilt was made to be viewed from both sides.”

Inspiration Is Everywhere

We saw this beautiful painting on location while we were shooting shows in Livermore. We thought it would be perfect to interpret as a quilt, which just goes to show you that you can find inspiration anywhere you. are.  Whether it be a painting, a scenic landscape, or just words you read in a book, any of those things could become your next masterwork. Not to brag, but we think The Quilt Show itself provides a lot of inspiration to quilters everywhere, and we want to share that with everyone. So who knows, your next project's design may be only a show click away.

I want to do the 2025 BOM using my own fabric, but I have not seen any information about the fabric colors to use. In the past, we were given that information early enough to be able to gather our fabric. Is that going to be available or do we have to buy the kit in order to participate?
