Things to Do Over International Quilting Weekend 2025

The Biggest Weekend For Quilting Is Here!

National Quilting Day is this Saturday, March 15, 2025, but here at The Quilt Show, we like to celebrate all weekend long as part of International Quilting Weekend. There are so many things you can do to get in on the festivities, so much that we created an entire blog for you to read all about them!

Featured Quilt - Best of Show at AQS QuiltWeek Daytona Beach 2025 and AQS QuiltWeek Branson 2025

It's been a month since Valentine's Day, but that hasn't stopped the love Aki Sakai has been receiving for her quilt Heartwarming Days. It has won not one, but TWO Best of Show awards in less than a month. In addition to winning Second Place - Hand Crafted / Hand Made (Sponsored by Andover) at last year's Houston International Quilt Festival, Heartwarming Days just recently won Best of Show at both AQS QuiltWeek - Daytona Beach 2025 and AQS QuiltWeek – Branson 2025. The subject matter and inspiration behind Aki's quilt is just as its title suggests, heartwarming. She says, “The design was based on my family memories, our quilt group (Honey Bee), and my favorite things. It took one year and four months to make this.”

Share in the love and take in all the amazing details in this hand pieced, hand appliquéd, hand embellished, hand embroidered, and hand quilted quilt. Congratulations Aki!

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Food and Space Collide!

"Melon Sky" by Ann Feitelson

Ann says of Melon Sky, "This quilt merges two of my favorite themes: food and the cosmos. The orbs are both watermelons and planets. The pinks with black dots represent watermelon interiors; the green radiating circles represent watermelon exteriors. The orange circles are cantaloupes--they are all whirling in a green sky."
