Featured Quilt - MQG Excellence Award at QuiltCon 2025

Clamshell Jamboree by Michelle Bartholomew won the MQG Excellence Award (Sponsored by Modern Quilt Guild) at QuiltCon 2025. Michelle says about her quilt, "Stuck in a design rut, I decided to explore how far I could push the clamshell shape. Pulling, stretching, adding rows and stripes, putting them upside down: is it still a clamshell?! Well I don't know the answer, but I do know that the result was a joyful and vibrant quilt. It taught me that on the other side of struggle and doubt there can be something special waiting if you just keep going."

Grandmother's Autumn Colorway

Granddaughter's Spring Colorway

A Short Month Means You Get The Month 3 BOM Patterns Sooner!

For Month 3 of the 2025 Block Of the Month, Laurel Ridge designed by Lynn Wilder, you will be making Half-Square Triangle blocks. You will learn the formula and the method for making eight half-square triangle blocks at a time.

There are two colorways for this year's BOM, Grandmother's Autumn and Granddaughter's Spring. If you purchased either of these kits, make sure to download the pattern that goes with the appropriate colorway as they do differ because of the fabrics being used. If you are using your own fabrics, we recommend that you download the patterns from the Grandmother's Autumn colorway to use as your guide.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Serene Quilt

"Serendipity" by Kyra Reps

Serendipity was Kyra's first quilt, with the central dot being the first one she created after purchasing a set of Apliquick tools. While she has a love of mandalas, Kyra did not have a plan when making this quilt and just started making dots and colors as she went through her stash and kept going until the dot-making snowballed into the design for Serendipity. Kyra says, "This quilt was inspired by acrylic paint dotting, also called Pointillism. I've created my Mandala by using circles in various styles. Each dot was hand-turned, and each was individually hand-sewn."
