Featured Quilt - Second Place Animal at Road to California 2025
On this Valentine's Day we want to celebrate all kinds of love, whether that is from your spouse, your partner, your friends, or your parents. Angie Tustison created her quilt, Secret World, as a celebration of her beloved Mother. Winning Second Place in the Animal category (Sponsored by Juki) at Road to California 2025, Angie shares why created this touching tribute and the meaning behind it: "I created this quilt as a memorial for my Mother. She loved owls, and she is represented in this quilt by a strong, protective mother owl. The 3 babies represent her 3 children. The beadwork on the bottom is done in her style with some beads she made herself. I always felt like Mom created a special, secret world for me and my siblings that was filled with inspiration and beauty."

Aaaah! What a Sweetheart!
A few years ago, Capt'n John made a photo album for Alex for Valentine's Day. He even wrote a poem to go with it. Here he shares it with TQS. (He says - "Be Kind! It's the thought that counts!") |

Learn About "A Book of Batik"
Beth and Jonathan Evans, internationally known batik artists, discuss their craft and recently published book, A Book of Batik, at a virtual event on Zoom, this Sunday, February 16, 2025. Registration is required, and there will be a question and answer session after the interview in which you are welcome to participate.
A Book of Batik is an art book, generously illustrated with a rich diversity of samples of Beth and Jonathan Evans work - dating back, in Jonathan’s case, to Ibiza in the early 1970s - that also functions as a dual autobiography. Both are well-traveled and cultured people and fine writers, and Jonathan in particular is a gifted weaver of tales.
Learn all about Beth and Jonathan Evans right here at The Quilt Show by watching them in How To Use Batik for Appliqué with Carol Moellers | Learn the Batik Process with Jonathan and Beth Evans. |

"Rosette" by Kate Colleran
Rosette is one of Kate's slightly more traditional quilts. Designed and pieced by Kate, and quilted by Crystal Zagnoli, it features fabrics from the Savannah line designed by Tammy Silvers for Island Batik. While it appears to be a complicated quilt, it really isn't. It just features half-square triangles of two different sizes and a little stitch and flip. Kate says it has a, "strong dynamic main design and subtle secondary pattern for the intermediate quilter. The design was inspired by vintage architectural ironwork."
