Featured Quilt - It's All Been Leading Up To This
It's Christmas Day! Whether you're enjoying time with your family, opening presents, loading up on Christmas cookies, or doing all three, it's just a magical day all around. But what were you doing leading up to today? If you were Osami Gonohe, then you might be admiring your Advent Calendar quilt and imaging all twenty-four presents you were getting as you counted down the days to Christmas.
Osami's quilt was featured in the Appliqué Category (Sponsored by your very own TheQuiltShow.com) at the 2024 Houston International Quilt Festival. If you don't know what an advent calendar is, and how it pertains to Osami's quilt, we'll let her explain it for you. "The theme is an advent calendar where you can enjoy opening a present every day during the countdown from December 1st to 24th. Suppressing the desire to open 24 days of gifts at once, one gift is opened each day. I created this quilt by filling boots and small boxes with exciting thoughts." |

"Evie's Peonies" by Amy McClellan
Named after her granddaughter Evie, a beautiful Carolina Lily block adorns Evie's Peonies, a red, white, and green stunner by Amy McClellan. While it does feature many reds and greens, and is considered a Christmas quilt by many who see it, Amy says that isn't so, as she says reds and greens are for any season. The polka dot swag border adds a great graphic touch to this "traditional" quilt.
