It Hasn't Always Been About the Fabric

Designer Carolyn Schnurer believed that the story of a garment was woven directly into its threads. She made the textiles just as important as the design of the clothes.

Of course, we always knew it was about the fabric.

From the Fashion Conservatory:

"Carolyn Schnurer's birthday is January 5th! In the 1940s and 50s, she pioneered the idea of "fabric interest," making textile choice and texture a central part of American sportswear. She combined this tactile philosophy with a traveler's eye, reinterpreting global patterns on practical, everyday fabrics that suited the modern woman's lifestyle."
