Featuring: Nancy Brown

Posts On: July 5, 2010

Join Alex and Ricky as they meet quilt artist Nancy S. Brown on location in the Oak Barrel room at Northern California's Wente Winery. Nancy, best known for her amazing, award-winning, hand-appliqued animal portraits, explains how childhood outings to the zoo inspired her choice of subject matter, and reveals a surprising secret about her wedding dress. She also shares the thought process that goes into each design, the various techniques she employs to translate the design to fabric, and some of her favorite hand-applique tips... and wait 'til you see the gifts exchanged between guest and hosts!

Now that my access to the show was enabled, I can watch one of my favourite quilt shows. Yeah++
find it incredible how Nancy Brown manages to render animals the way she does using fabric. It is amazing. I particularly love the white and black quilts, the one featuring the miners and the one featuring the four wives on the porch. It is just beautiful though the ones with the giraffes and all the dogs and the orungutan are awesome too. Great show

What a delight to see this entire episode! I've somehow just seen excerpts. Nancy is a friend, and I'm such a fan of her work - thank you for letting this gem of a show be enjoyed again!

Nancy is one of the best teachers I've had and she really makes her classes fun for the students. Her applique designs are imaginative but possible even for beginners.

wish she would have patterns for sale as I live in Canada and can't attend one of her classes

I've taken a class from Nancy, and she is a patient teacher who packs a lot of information into her class so students will be successful. She is fun, and inspirational. Her quilts are absolutely amazing!

:-)Was great to have a refresher of this technique. I attended a work shop with Nancy several years ago and you know how you remember one or two things from a class? Well now I remember so much more and a few new things.
