Show 1908 - Postcards and Photorealism

Featuring: Carol Morrissey / Cyndi Souder

Posts On: October 9, 2016

Carol Morrissey’s love of nature has had an enormous impact on her quilting. It propelled her from making traditional quilts to creating realistic images of flora and fauna. Carol shows you how to add details to objects (in this case, a bee) using paint and inks. The end result looks almost like a watercolor. She also demonstrates how to make a fast, fun, fused postcard you can actually mail. Her tips include how to remove fused pattern pieces, as well as fabric-saving techniques. Later, Cyndi Souder takes you through her process of creating personalized celebration quilts, using both traditional and original designs. She shows how to enhance personalized pieces with free-motion written messages.

I love Cyndi's idea of stitching writing on quilts - I've done this before and it's so easy. A tutor once said that she always quilts her name in the quilting somewhere because she wants her quilts to be identifiable as hers and labels can be removed. I've taken this a step further with some recent quilts - I have stitched the information that goes on the label as the quilting on the borders.

I can always watch your show on my Kindle fire. But not this time. Disappointing. So glad Tim is doing ok. I am so sorry you had to go through that very scary ordeal.

Love watching your shows. But lately the icon that allows me to watch on the apple this missing from your video can you help? Would much prefer watching on the big ten so I can stitch while watching.
