Description:
Artist Statement: "Benartex reached out and asked me to redesign the traditional Spool block and make it modern. I designed the "Spool Dash" block for Benartex's e-magazine "Modern by the Yard". The fabric collection is called Colorweave by Benartex. I like designing with subtle prints that look like solids, but have added depth and texture! To finish the quilt, I combined two quilting techniques, Matchstick Quilting and Big Stitch, Slide Quilting to create a unique texture on the quilt and I'm very pleased with the outcome!"
Techniques Used: Machine pieced, Hand quilted, Machine quilted on a frame (longarm), Big stitch, slide quilting, explained: Step 1: Fill your quilt from the edge to edge with matchstick quilting spaced at about 1/8th apart. Step 2: This creates an opportunity to slide your heavier weight thread between the quilt top and batting. The result has more of a 3-D effect as the purple thread floats on top of the batting, instead of the backside of the quilt.
