Description:
Inspiration: "Thinking about travelling post Covid and taking inspiration from Art Deco travel posters; I wanted to create a quilt with both movement and clean graphical lines. The fabrics used reflect the oversaturated colours of the posters and hint at a tropical paradise passing by."
Artist Notes About Making the Quilt:
- Design - The quilt was designed in Illustrator and then adapted slightly as I started piecing. Well done to everyone who mentioned Art Deco as that was definitely the inspiration.
- Piecing Curves - I used Jenny Haynes acrylic templates to piece my curves. I love these templates they really do take the fear out of curve piecing.
- Quilting - I quilted the quilt using my Janome UK 6700p using Aurifil thread. This was the first time I quilted a whole quilt in matchstick quilting and I loved the process. I started by marking out ¾” lines and then quilting those lines, then in the middle and then in the middle again. The last lines were in alternating colours.Materials: Cotton Fabrics, Wool Wadding, Aurifil thread
