Room Without a Roof

"Room Without a Roof" by Latifah Saafir was featured at Quiltcon 2022 as part of her exhibit.

Artist Statement: "One of the only kinds of scrap quilts you'll find me making is a bias tape scrap quilt. And it's a surprise to no one that the clamshell shape shows up once again in my work. With the clam shapes being formed organically, this quilt is a combination of bias tape Improv and Scrappy - two things that don't usually show up in my work. A combination of the background color and the random pops of color and print of the clamshells made for such a happy quilting experience. The Pharrell song Happy was in heavy rotation on the radio while I was piecing it and it sorta became the unofficial theme song for the quilt. The quilt name is a random line from the song that also brought me joy."
