Description:
Artist Statement: "This quilt is the first made for my ARTservancy residency at Lake Park in Milwaukee, spanning October 2020 through September 2021. The quilt touches on the unique occurrence of a Halloween blue moon and the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsberg with a traditional courthouse steps block. It also notes my joy at experiencing an artists residency in Milwaukee, which I had longed to do for many years. The embroidery and applique juxtapose my memory of the leaves at the park alongside accurate tracings of the leaves, hinting at the ways my mind and memory can reconstruct the past both accurately and with gaps. It is my hope that when viewed in person, the viewer has a dramatically different experience both close and far from the quilt."
