My Traveling Journey
Quilt Summary:
"My Traveling Journey" by Brian Haggard is a quilt made of all of Brian's vacations.
- Quilting
- - Domestic Machine
Description:
Brian thinks a lot of vacation quilts can get a little "garish and bright", so he wanted something different for My Traveling Journey and went with a sepia-tone color palette. Displaying locations such as Paris, Germany, Chambord Castle, Italy, and many of the other places that he's visited, the centerpieces actually use antique postcards from the 1800s to represent places that Brian had not traveled to yet when the quilt was made. He is proud to say that he has now visited all of the destinations featured on the quilt.
Artist Statement: "The inspiration for this quilt are the many travels I've had through my life starting at age 19 with a European trip and ending with going to Europe with my family for the first time at Thanksgiving two years ago. All of the pictures you see around the border are of my travels and I used antique pictures and postcards in the center for the places that I had wanted to travel but had not been yet, I am happy to say I have now been to all the places on this particular quilt."
