Description:
When finishing her doctorate in educational leadership, Elise designed a small version of her quilt Leadership Compass to commemorate the leadership experience. After making the small one, Elise was asked to create a larger version that would be donated to the University of St. Thomas. The big version of the quilt is a visual representation of the forces that hold leaders together and pull us apart. The red corner represents family and friends, the people who support us but whom we owe the most to. The purple represents the community, the large group we have a responsibility to. The green represents the environment, if we don't take care of the world around us there won't be an us to take care of. The golden yellow represents a higher power, whatever you as the viewer can see that to be. And the quilt is held together by a central Crazy Ann block, to help us remember that being a leader can drive you crazy.
