Description:
Artist Statement: "Hot - just another log cabin quilt - evokes heat and warmth and surprising optimisim. But when I made Hot I was so angry at the pandemic, and also at the other serious issues that were playing out in the world, in my country and in my own city - racism, failure to address climate change, the opioid crisis, misogyny, and so many other things. I needed to express my anger in a way that did no damage to anyone. I quilted my feelings and made Hot. I drew significant inspiration for the style of the improv log cabin blocks from a quilt called Iceberg made by my internet friend, Elaine Wick Poplin (@messygoat) and I thank her for that inspiration and the encouragement to make Hot and the enter her in QuiltCon."
Techniques: Machine Pieced, Improvisational Piecing, Machine Quilted on a frame (longarm)
