Description:
Homes Great and Small represents a sense of community and home for Geri, and that is what it speaks to. On the steps of one building there sits a cat who's waiting for its owner to come home. By another home sits a dog near its doghouse, and dogs are always a must-include in Geri's quilts as she is a dog person.
Artist Statement: "Home, the apartment at the top of the three, narrow, long flights of stairs you climb at the end of each day, the dog house that shelters a four legged friend from the damp chill of the evening or the dwelling where a cat waits patiently on the stoop for the door to open welcoming her in to sleep by the fire. Home is a sense of self, where objects define the persona of the inhabitants that collect and assemble them into a place of identity that otherwise might only be an alien arrangement of partitions. Home is where we find comfort and solace from the stage we are all players on just outside the front door. "Be it ever so humble there is no place like home.""
