Description:
First Light features more than one image melded or blended together in Photoshop. It started with the statue of a Buddha that sat on Wen's windowsill that she dropped a piece of painted interfacing behind which she then took a photograph of. She then blended that image with images of trees, a rusted car, and more to create the main image. The quilt was then constructed in Wen's segmented quilt presentation, which means the quilt is not sewn together but rather tied back together. The edges of the quilt are not bound, but painted with inexpensive paint.
Techniques: Created by melding several photographs. This is fused digitally and printed with an Epson 2400 onto cotton canvas. The digital fiber photograph is mounted onto free sections using heavy stabilizer. Segments are creatively stitched and held together with a hand-tied bookbinding method using dyed pearl cotton. Edges and top are sealed with UV medium and paint.
