Description:
Corroboree - A Festival Gathering by Ann Horton won Second Place - Wall Quilts: Stationary Machine Quilted (Sponsored by Baby Lock USA presented by Calico Country Sew & Vac) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2024. A corroboree is "an Australian Aboriginal dance ceremony which may take the form of a sacred ritual or an informal gathering," which is where the title of Ann's quilt come from. The outside border of the quilt contains animals one might find down under, including kangaroos and platypus', which Ann has lovingly recreated using a combination of hand appliqué, hand embroidery, along with some machine quilting techniques. Be on the lookout though, as these animals plus more are also hiding in plain sight in the fabric used throughout the quilt.
Quilting Method: Stationary Machine
Quilting Technique: Appliqué (Hand), Decorative Stitching, Embroidery (Digitized), Embroidery (Hand), Piecing (Machine), Piped Edging, Quilting (Free-Motion)
