Description:
Boteh is the Persian name for the paisley motif. The background of the quilts consists of 1 x 1 cm and 2 x 2 cm squares, 1 x 2 cm rectangles, and 1 x 3 cm rectangles. Black and white pieced strips separate the areas os the inner and outer borders. The paisleys are painted with ink pens on white silk and applied to the background. The quilting is based entirely on the painted motifs. Black silk yarn emphasizes the contours of the filigree patterns.
