Artist Statement: "This piece depicts the end of a journey through a challenging, successful, yet spirit crushing career as a female fire fighter. It has been a journey of exhaustion and triumph, of camaraderie and hostility, and finally a path to healing that has forced me to grow physically and spiritually in ways I could never have imagined. In my comforting and creative studio I have discovered my true passion and delved deep into the remarkable worlds of art and literature."
