Inspired by my childhood in Japan, this quilt captures the color and tranquility of a Buddhist koi garden. The central structure is based on a Japanese pierced Yen coin. The saffron color was hand dyed, and all flora and fauna are original drawings. The beaded elements are an original concept using numerous techniques, such as post-quilting insertion and gradation scallops, each individually hand tied and embellished.
