Description:
I worked at a local fine arts museum as an assistant curator on the exhibition, Modern Nature: Georgia O'Keeffe and Lake George. My inspiration was one of Alfred Stieglitz's photographs of O'Keeffe where he presented her leaning against a tree on the shores of Lake George. The contrast of her hands against the rough bark of the tree was appealing and became my starting point. Using upholstery samples of suede, leather, and cotton, I fashioned multiple layers of bark and used a photograph of my hands.
