See Virginia Jacobs' "Krabow Kabuki Waltz" at The Frist Art Museum
The Frist Art Museum in Nashville, TN is currently showing the Fabric of a Nation: American Quilt Stories from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston exhibit, which showcases "nearly 50 remarkable examples of quilts and coverlets made from the 18th century up to 2021." As part of that exhibit, you can see Virginia Jacobs’ Krakow Kabuki Waltz, "a monumental 7‑foot‑diameter quilted sphere."
From the Frist Art Museum:
"CURRENTLY ON VIEW—Virginia Jacobs’ Krakow Kabuki Waltz is a monumental 7‑foot‑diameter quilted sphere now displayed in Fabric of a Nation.
Jacobs' spherical form transforms traditional motifs into a whirling dance of color and pattern. She described it as “a distillation of the continuity and indefatigability of the spirit of folk music, dance, and costume,” melding global folk influences into one dynamic piece.
See it before October 12 at the Frist!"
Virginia Jacobs’ Krakow Kabuki Waltz will be on display as part of the Fabric of a Nation: American Quilt Stories from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston exhibit at the Frist Art Museum in Nashville, TN from now through October 12, 2025.
