Featured Quilt - "Who Is That Girl I See"

Sometimes the inspiration we seek is no further than our own reflection. Cindy Stohn would know, as her self portrait quilt, My Big Face, won Best Longarm Machine Workmanship - Innovative at 2021 Virtual Spring Quilt Festival. Cindy says of her own personal work, "I created this self portrait inspired by the painting style of Chuck Close." "Free motion quilting using multiple layers of thread rings adheres the circles to the pieced squares. Over 120 colors of fabric and 56 colors of thread were used to create the illusion. No software, paint or fusible products were used."

Sonya Lee Barrington's Levi's Quilts

Sonya Lee Barrington is quite the busy lady. In addition to working on all that she has going on, in the last year she took on a new project, salvaging THIRTY YEARS worth of Levi's jeans and turning them into fabulous quilts.

A Visual History of Space-Age Fashion

The Way Of The Future

"The 1960s space race was more than a measure of scientific progress. The anticipation of this next stage of humanity left an indelible impression on culture, too." While most would think it would be television shows like Star Trek, or technology of the future like cellphones, it also had great influence on fashion at the time. Find out how!

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Fruitful Bounty of Quilting

"Simply Delicious" by Becky Goldsmith

Simply Delicious by Becky Goldsmith was her company's second Block of the Month quilt based on botanical fruit prints. The backgrounds in the quilt are blue and white because, according to Becky, fruits go in the kitchen and kitchens are blue and white. This is Becky's own version of that Block of the Month.

See more of Becky's quilts in It's the Ultimate Thread Guide with Becky Goldsmith.
