SAQA’s 2023 Benefit Auction
From SAQA: "The wait is over! The most-anticipated event on SAQA’s calendar—the 2023 SAQA Benefit Auction—opens tomorrow, Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 2 p.m. EDT (GMT/UTC -4). It continues through Sunday, October 8, 2023."
More from SAQA:
"This annual online fundraiser supports all of SAQA’s programs and is open to anyone with an internet connection; SAQA membership is not required to bid. This year’s auction includes more than 380 art quilts, all approximately 12 inches square. SAQA members from around the world create and donate these wonderfully varied art quilts. Subjects include abstracts, flora, fauna, landscapes, portraits and more.
To get ready to bid, first read the Auction FAQs at saqa.com/auction, where you will learn about everything from shipping to how the bidding process works. SAQA uses the auction platform Handbid for the Benefit Auction. You must first create an account on Handbid (including a credit card number) in order to bid. Since this can take a few minutes, it is important to preregister so you don’t miss out on your favorite pieces. When bidding, you must be signed into your Handbid account.
Opening day is Diamond Day, when any work is available for $1,000. The rest of this reverse-price auction (where the first bidder is the winner) is divided into three sections, with a new section opening each Monday:
Section 1: September 18-24
Section 2: September 25-October 1
Section 3: October 2-8
Bid prices start at $750 per art quilt and drop each day at 2 p.m. EDT (GMT/UTC -4) until they reach $100 on Saturday. The following Monday, the bidding pattern repeats until the auction closes. Any remaining pieces will be available in the SAQA Store.
