SAQA’s 2022 Spotlight Auction
Get ready for this year’s SAQA Spotlight Auction, which takes place online from April 29, 2022 through May 7, 2022. This virtual fundraiser features more than 320 small works made by SAQA members from around the world, a record number for this event. All proceeds benefit SAQA programs.
This annual online event coincides with the group’s annual conference, Bridging the Gulf: Fabric to Fine Art, but is open to anyone—you do not have to be a SAQA member or conference attendee to bid on these treasures.
Each work is mounted on an 8 x 10-inch mat with a 4.5 x 6.5-inch opening and placed in a clear cellophane sleeve. This year’s quilts show an incredible range of style and subject matter: abstracts, representational, flora and fauna, portraits, and more, including pieces that show support for Ukraine. To preview all of the works, visit www.saqa.com/spotlight, where a link will take you to the Handbid bidding platform.
Be completely ready to win by registering to bid when you visit the Handbid site. Bidding for each piece starts at $20 and goes up in $5 increments; bidding starts on April 29, 2022. Auction lots are divided into five sections, or “tables”, a term that references the display of items when the Spotlight Auction was a live event at SAQA’s annual conferences—a format changed by the pandemic. Each table will close at a different time between 4-6 p.m. EDT on May 7, 2022, the last day of the virtual conference.
Shipping costs for buyers are calculated at the end of the auction. Please note that additional taxes and duties may apply to non-US addresses.
