The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Rise Above" by Charisma Horton
Do a puzzle of Charisma Horton's quilt, Rise Above.
Charisma likes to give her quilts meaningful names as words are very powerful for her. In the case of Rise Above, its name is tied directly to the story of its creation. Somebody in the industry told Charisma she needed to design block of the months, so she designed Rise Above and pitched it to several companies, but it kept getting rejected. So she asked one of the companies why it kept getting rejected, and they said it was because of the off-center star. She told them that that star is taking the side step to shoot off into the universe. So, Charisma called Riley Blake Designs and asked if they would provide her the fabrics to make the quilt, and they agreed. The quilt was then made, put out into the universe at a time when Charisma didn't have many followers, and caught fire to "rise above" and show that Charisma could make her pattern business a business.
