The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Lovebirds" by Phyllis Cullen
Do a puzzle of Phyllis Cullen's quilt, Lovebirds.
Lovebirds is one of the first portrait quilts that Phyllis made, and it features her parents. It shows off their typical expression, smiling, and uses colors that skew from traditional skin tones. Phyllis already knew from her art background that this was something you could do, i.e. portray something in a different colorway than it actually is, because as long as you got a good variety of values you're able to portray a realistic image regardless of fabric or color choice.
