The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Jewel of the Rainforest" by Phyllis Cullen
Do a puzzle of Phyllis Cullen's quilt, Jewel of the Rainforest.
Sometimes Phyllis likes to make animal quilts in addition to her portrait quilts. One such quilt is Jewel of the Rainforest, which is part of her series focusing on the endemic birds of Hawaii, whose subject is the critically endangered Palila bird. The technique she used to create the birds is called improvisational impressionist, which means instead of painting with paint dobs she is painting with little pieces of fabric.
