The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Butterflies & Moths" by Amy Pabst
Do a puzzle of Amy Pabst's quilt, Butterflies & Moths.
Miniature and micro-piecing aren't the only types of quilts that Amy makes, she is also very adept at making all kinds of quilts besides log cabins. This quilt, Butterflies & Moths, was inspired by antique tobacco silks. Amy thought they were gorgeous and bought a collection of them with the intent to make a quilt. However, when she went to work with them they were too fragile and began to disintegrate as soon as she started. So, she traced templates off of them to create the shapes of the butterflies for the quilt. In addition to just being a beautiful work, Amy has also developed this piece into a two-day workshop for others to make as well.
