The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Big Red" by Cathy Franks

Do a puzzle of Cathy Franks' quilt, Big Red.

Big Red is named not only for the striking red fabrics that Cathy used throughout, but also for her home state of Indiana, where "Go Big Red" is a rallying cry to support their football team. It is a very Modern quilt for her, and features the bright reds and greens that she loves, which also are a nod to her love of Christmas. Cathy painted the background squares yellow, and included some truly incredible quilting designs.

This is our new format for our puzzles. With just a few clicks, you will have more capabilities available to you then with our previous puzzle format.

 - To choose the number of pieces in your puzzle, click the icon of Nine Squares, and then select your pieces to be as few as 5 or close to 900.

 - To make it a rotating puzzle, click the icon of a Circular Arrow.

 - Then, for fun, if you'd to change the color of the background of your puzzle, click the Paint Palette and then select your color.

 - To pause your puzzle, click the timer in the upper right hand corner. This will pause the puzzle and will tell you how much you've completed.

 - To make the puzzle full screen, click the icon that looks like an uncompleted square. To exit full screen, hit the escape key on your keyboard.

- Once you have completed a puzzle and would like to do another one, click the icon of Three Bars stacked on top of each other in the left hand corner and select Modify this Puzzle. This will bring up the Nine Squares, Circular Arrow, and Palette icons, which you can adjust to create a new puzzle.

If you have any more questions about how the new puzzle format works, click the Question Mark (?) symbol in the upper right hand corner to get help.

Hate the new format. Makes it too complicated to do the puzzle. I enjoyed the old format because it was easy to make choices as to what you wanted to do and get to the puzzle without jumping through a lot of hoops.

Actually i liked the new format. i found it to be more challenging. Different isn't always a bad thing.

I agree that the new format is horrible. I hate the little squiggles on the sides of the pieces -- they look awful. I can only assume this is costing you less -- otherwise there would be no reason to change. Please bring back the original format.

This is a terrible change. I didn't find the 9 square icon to make a choice. Thus, the pieces were small and the area to put the puzzle together was too small. Why would you change what was working just fine; and obviously from other comments...

Why would you change what was working just fine; and obviously from other comments was enjoyed by all. I enjoyed doing the puzzles but won't be doing any more on this site. Please, please, please return to the old format.

I am going to join the chorus...this was a terrible idea!!! The pieces are too small and the fun has gone out of it. Why, WHY, did you think this would be a good idea? Why not ask your community first, before making this change? It cannot have a financial aspect to it; but, if that is the reason, I am sure you could have asked us for a few more dollars and we would have been fine with that, if it meant the puzzle format would not change. This could be the last year I subscribe. Maybe, like the Cracker Barrel folks learned, you will re-think this decision and quickly.

Why? This new setup is a mess! There was nothing wrong with the old way.

This is not a change for the better. Even with increased variety in piece numbers, it's not a pleasant experience.
