The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Ao To Shiro Blue And White" by David Owen Hastings
Do a puzzle of David Owen Hastings' quilt, Ao To Shiro Blue And White.
Ao To Shiro Blue And White shows off David's love of Japan. David dyed all of the blue and white fabric used in the quilt in Japan, and while over there took a workshop in Shibori, which is a fabric dyeing style closely associated with the country. Once home, David wanted to pay homage to this great fabric, so he developed three block designs based on origami. When you unfold a piece of origami, there is all this linework showing off on the piece of paper. David looked to those lines for his block designs in this quilt.
