The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Abandoned" by Ana Buzzalino
Do a puzzle of Ana Buzzalino's quilt, Abandoned.
Abandoned came about because of a trip that Ana took to Hawaii where she stayed with her friends. On one of their day trips, they came upon an abandoned sugar mill factory, and because Ana loves abandoned buildings they stopped to take a few photos. Since they saw there was a piece of fence missing, they went in to take closer photos and discovered rusted pieces everywhere (rust is another thing that Ana loves). Inspired by the experience, the next day she and her friends got some fabric and rusted it themselves using water, vinegar, and some of the rusted pieces at the mill. Abandoned was made using that rusted fabric and its imagery is taken from that trip.
