Featured Quilt - Sweet Serendipitous Success

Serendipity by Kyra Reps won 1st Place Large Quilts - Movable Machine Quilted at AQS QuiltWeek - Daytona Beach 2020. On how the quilt came to be, Kyra says, "This quilt was inspired by acrylic paint dotting, also called Pointillism. I've created my Mandala by using circles in various styles. Each dot was hand-turned, and each was individually hand-sewn." Serendipity was also featured in the Appliqué, Large category, sponsored by EZ Quilting, at Houston International Quilt Festival in 2019.

And don't miss out on Kyra's interview with Bonnie Browning on the floor of AQS QuiltWeek - Daytona Beach 2020 right after winning her award, by clicking the Quilt Video tab.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Play Your Way To Strip Piecing
"Marimba" by Rayna Gillman

Marimba was born out of Rayna's worldly scrap collection, containing African, Indian, and so many more fabric scraps from the world over. One day, when she didn't know what to do, Rayna sat down and began to cut strips out of her scrap collection and just started to alternate the prints with another set of white strips. From this exercise, a simple and elegant quilt was made.
