Featured Quilt - Bonjour From Houston
What is better than a picture to remind you of a great trip? How about making a quilt! That's what Naomi Ootomo did to have a keepsake from her trip to France. With amazing hand quilting and appliqué work, Paradise of Flowers and Fountains was featured in the Balanced Piecing and Appliqué category at Houston 2018. Naomi describes her inspiration for the work as follows, "I can't forget the wonderful fountain I saw in the garden of the Palace of Versailles a few years ago. I made this quilt with the image of paradise so that I can see beautiful flowers and fountains at any time."
Time For A New Show with Lisa Ellis and Ricky Tims!
Appreciate New Art with Lisa and Ricky
Lisa Ellis loves her grandmother's cathedral window quilt, but found the traditional method of making it too time consuming. As an engineer, Lisa designed a mock cathedral block that is a ‘quilt as you go’ machine-sewn method using charm squares. She also shares tips for adding thread painted lettering to your quilt project. Ricky also teaches how to make a contemporary Chinese Coins quilt.
Want to win a signed copy of Lisa Ellis' new book Charming Cathedral Window Quilts? We will be giving away six copies to six lucky people, so visit our Facebook and Instagram pages to learn how to enter!
The winners will be announced in next Friday's newsletter, and will also be contacted by private message on Facebook & Instagram.
With October only a few days away, there's no better time to get a head start on your Halloween decorations. For starters, how about a Sugar Skull Mug Rug from Erika Mulvenna at WeAllSew. It's a great project "to celebrate Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, or any day you are feeling a little spooky."
Why do we love Charm Packs? Because you get lots of fabrics for little money, AND you can use them to make gorgeous Cathedral Windows Blocks the Lisa Ellis way. Choose from many different designs, including Glass Beads, Sunrise Vista, Color Therapy, and so many more!
