Featured Quilt - Two Sides To Every Story

Las Dos Caras del Teatro (The Two Theatre Faces) Maria Ragusini won First Prize - Pictorial Quilts at the 2022 Birmingham Festival of Quilts. This mosaic quilt, filled with the tiniest of pieces, was inspired by a literal mosaic. Maria says it was "a roman mosaic representing the theatre Muses Melpomene (tragedy Muse) and Talia (Comedy Muse)." When you see the quilt, which face do you side with? The comedic one, or the tragic?

We finished Week 8 of Transform Your Quilting. Wasn't it great?
This week you learned precision piecing (and ironing) from Sally Collins and how to lasso your bobbin thread with Ricky when working with heavier thread. Then, Laura Nownes helped you to discover how to tackle the tricky Y-Seam, followed by Cindy Seitz-Krug, who helped you set up your quilting space. Have you given any of these techniques or tips a try? Just click on Start Learning and get started.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Ways to Use Guatemalan Stripes
"Natura Florida II" by Priscilla Bianchi

Because of the way they are woven, Guatemalan textiles have a lot of stripes in them. Natura Florida II
was created by Priscilla to show off all the ways in which you can cut the stripes, depending on where they are going, to make these very intricate-looking optical illusion designs. The designs themselves were very simple to make, and Priscilla says that it's the fabric that makes the quilt and does the hard work.
