Weekend Fun - September 16, 2022
Featured Quilt - Best of Show at 2022 AQS QuiltWeek Des Moines
We've said it before, and we'll say it again, Janet Stone has just received another Best of Show award to place on her shelf. The quilt that took it home this time was ABCDvine at the 2022 AQS QuiltWeek show in Des Moines, Iowa. This quilt also won The Grace Company Master Award For Traditional Artistry at the Houston International Quilt Festival last year.

Janet says that
"All quilting was free-motion quilted on a sit down machine with no rulers. Quarter inch channels were stuffed with yarn after quilting for a trapunto look. Hand-covered buttons and embellishments were added because who doesn't love a little embellishing?" Her inspiration, of all things, considering her love of sheep and animals, were antique Wreath blocks. Who would have thought?

We've wrapped up week 7 of Transform Your Quilting.
The fun and learning this week included Auditioning Your Fabric in your quilt blocks, learning about The Blanket | Buttonhole Stitch, Impeccable Piecing and How to Get That 1/4" Seam Allowance, and learning How to Thread Your Sewing Machine Needle.

Years of experience went into creating these quick tips and techniques. Click the button below to learn it all in just a few minutes.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: From Clothing Design to Quilt
"Nebaj III" by Priscilla Bianchi

Nebaj III is from Series V of Priscilla's Guatemala Arte Quilts. She says, "This design is my contemporary interpretation of the belt worn by the people from Nebaj. Multicolored diamonds are one of my favorite geometric shapes, showing up again and again in my artwork. I enjoyed creating many variations here. Repeating the basic diamond shape gives the design unity."
