Featured Quilt - Second Place Contemporary Quilts at the 2023 Festival of Quilts
Time to Loss by Youn Kyung Song won Second Place in the Contemporary Quilts category at the 2023 Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, England. A mixture of different quilting techniques and unusual materials come together to bring Youn's quilt about accepting and using the time that we've got to live.
About the inspiration and creation of the quilt, Youn says, "Everyone is given a fair amount of time, but everyone has a different way of using it. The emptiness of time is expressed in broken clocks and watch gears. Melted crayons into old magazines to express a gorgeous texture as opposed to the sense of loss."
