Featured Quilt - Best Longarm Machine Workmanship Wall Quilt at PIQF 2021

Many wall quilt makers choose to use their large canvases to portray a specific subject, usually a person, place, or animal, and take that space to convey a fantastic scene. That is what Phyllis A Cullen did with her fantastically colorful quilt, Frigates, which won Best Longarm Machine Workmanship in the Wall Quilt Competition at PIQF 2021. A Frigate is a type of bird, and Phyllis found her subjects while traveling. "Male Frigate birds compete for female attention. I photographed them in the Galapagos, improvisationally collage quilted."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: And Just a Sip of Wine...

image

"Communion" by MJ Kinman

Communion is the first quilt in MJ's Angle of Repose series and she initially struggled to name it, until the answer suddenly fell in her lap, or should we say on the quilt. It was baptized, by accident, when a little bit of red wine was spilled onto it.
