Featured Quilt - Second Place Innovative at PIQF 2023
Taking home a second big award in just under a year, Judith Phelps' quilt, Remembrance, won Second Place in the Innovative category at this month's Pacific International Quilt Festival 2023. Last year it won Second Place in the Pictorial Small category at the 2022 Houston International Quilt Festival. Judith's quilt took inspiration from a book challenge, using "The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, which takes place in France during World War Two" as her book of choice.

"Beach Houses #3" by Mickey Lawler
Beach Houses #3 is the third in a series of landscapes by Mickey that feature the same style of houses put against different backgrounds. The houses themselves are based on some little cottages along a strip of land near Provincetown on Cape Cod. For this third piece in the series, Mickey took the same design as the much larger first quilt and scaled down the houses. She then utilized a different sky and foreground to have the quilt convey a different time of day or year.
