Featured Quilt - Best Longarm Machine Workmanship at PIQF 2023

Tunnel Vision by Beth Nufer and Clem G. Buzick, featured in the Mid-Century Mod/Modern category, won Best Longarm Machine Workmanship at the 2023 Pacific International Quilt Festival. Beth says of their quilt, "I love making quilts with a 3-D effect. I also enjoy using gradated fabric for the background! All cotton fabrics."

Filled to the brim with vibrant and stunning colors, it's a quilt that you can just get lost in when viewing, or as those QuiltFest liked to say so punningly, "it’ll be sure to give you tunnel vision."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: How Lovely It Is By The Sea

"By the Seaside" by Cindy Lohbeck

With a love for the Arashi, or storm in English, Shibori fabric dyeing method, Cindy decided to make a series of quilts inspired by this technique and her similarly colored blue, indigo, and ocean-like hand-dyed fabrics. One of those quilts is By the Seaside, which features a short story that goes along with it The story reads, "Her life was stormy and blue. She found peace selling seashells..."
