Featured Quilt - BERNINA Best Sewing Machine Workmanship Award at PIQF 2023

Featuring doilies hand dyed by her friend Wendy Richardson, and Paula Nadeslstern fabric, Marilyn Badger's quilt, Cleopatra's Treasure, took home The BERNINA Best Sewing Machine Workmanship Award at Pacific International Quilt Festival 2023 this past weekend. No stranger to awards, like Marilyn herself, this quilt also won First Place in the Wall Quilts: Movable Machine Quilted category (Sponsored by Juki America) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2023 earlier this year. Cleopatra's Treasure is the second in a series by Marilyn, so expect to see many more masterpieces like this one from her on the horizon.

Rose had this to say on the inspiration for the name and subject matter of her quilt, Riding the Thermals, "In our busy, hectic lives it is always calming for me to stop, watch the sun come up, the birds waking up, and breathe in cleansing air. While doing this there are many times when the local pair of ravens is out catching the morning thermals on the hill and riding and gliding, riding and gliding... reminding us of the bigger picture."
