Featured Quilt - Winner Two Person Category at 2022 Birmingham Festival of Quilts

Golden Days by Mandy Johnson and Sandy Chandler was the winner of the Two Person Category at the 2022 Birmingham Festival of Quilts. The judges at the show felt the quilt was an "Expressive design piece - well done! Dramatic colour impact with fabulous perspective and depth, created with clever shading."

On how the quilt came about, the designers had this to say, "My first quilt started with a Jo Colwill kit which I personalised to celebrate life in Cornwall. I replaced some fabrics before creating a floral design along with butterflies. I hand painted the animals and designed the flora and fauna around the border to reflect the wildlife in our garden."
Basket Rendezvous Pattern Update Available

Did you purchase a Basket Rendezvous Pattern or Kit? We have an update for you!
We recently realized that the Basket Handle Placement Template in the Basket Rendezvous pattern is not the one shown in Alex's original Basket Rendezvous quilt, and is a little shorter than she prefers. Alex made a second, taller template available, and you can download it by clicking on the button below.

The shorter template included in the pattern will also work, but Alex prefers the updated taller template as it will result in a look more true to her original quilt.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Stars and Stripes Are Forever
"Stars and Stripes" by Mark Lipinski

Mark's quilt, Stars and Stripes, was made for the Quilts of Valor (QOV) project that he participated in with Alex Anderson and Eleanor Burns for Iowa Public Television. The quilt was meant to be made in six hours by a beginning quilter, and the inspiration was Mark's Prisoner of War (POW) bracelet that he bought during the Vietnam War. The bracelet bore the name of the POW, J. Quincy Collins, and this quilt was eventually gifted to him as part of the Quilts of Valor program.
