Featured Quilt - Handi Quilter Best Of Show Award at Houston 2022

We told you more Houston quilts were coming, and here is one of the biggest prize winners from the show. Beyond Reason by Angela Petrocelli won the Handi Quilter Best Of Show Award at the 2022 Houston International Quilt Festival. A quilt of immense proportion, both in dedication to style and its actual size (96" x" 96"), Angela's award-winning work was truly a labor of love.

She says, "Some accomplishments are beyond reason. This quilt is the embodiment of a dream…not of a finished product, but the journey and completion of a process. I believed I could, I thought I should, I said I would, and I did. The total piece count is 226,576."

Transform You Quilting 2 - Week 2 Begins

Our new series of Transform Your Quilting sessions have begun. Today you can watch a show and then create a quilt block which allows you to practice the technique featured in that show.
Today's featured technique is the Eight Pointed Star block taught by Edyta Sitar in Show 1112 - How to Do Flip and Sew and Eight Pointed Stars with Edyta Sitar. In this show, Edyta teaches you how easy it is to piece a dynamic Eight Pointed Star beginning with strips. The practice block gives you instructions to make a "Twirling Star" that is 10 7/8" x 10 7/8" finished.
With Transform Your Quilting you can join in anytime and go back and re-watch any of the techniques whenever you want.

Missed out on the first round of Transform Your Quilting? No need to fear, everything is right here waiting for you in the blog to learn and or revisit whenever you want.

Just make sure you are LOGGED IN as a Star Member. Then, open your newsletters and follow the links. It’s fast learning and lots of fun.

Proficient PowerPoint Design is Easy with Ana Buzzalino
Make Your Own Creative Fabric

Our brand new show has Ana Buzzalino showing you how to create your own custom fabric design using the functions of PowerPoint to merge non-related images and create layers and fonts. With folders of related images, such as trees, plants, or buildings, she can simply select an image, capture a specific area and merge it into another image to create a layered effect. Once the image is completed, yardage can be made using a print-on-demand company.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: See The Stained-Glass Garden
"Garden in My Window" by Allie Aller

As an avid gardener, Allie has a goal to make a large Tiffany-inspired stained glass window quilt of her own garden. In the meantime, she made Garden in My Window as a precursor and warm-up for when she makes the actual quilt. It allowed her to discover what kind of fabrics she would like to use and what type of background to have. For this quilt, Allie used a fabric-dyed sky for the background, which is a run-up to the gargantuan 6 ft by 8 ft one she has planned for the real thing. Allie completed this garden for the Road to California - Stained Glass Revisited Exhibit in 2017.
