Featured Quilt - Best Hand Workmanship Wall Quilt Competition at PIQF 2022

Bridgeport, CA by Jeanie Paige Ferguson won Best Hand Workmanship in the Wall Quilt Competition at the 2022 Pacific International Quilt Festival. This locale-based quilt takes its inspiration from a historical location in California.

Jeanie says, "Bridgeport, California is famous for the longest single span covered bridge, used during gold mining days for wagons and stagecoaches in the 1850's-60's. It is a state and national historical landmark 229 feet long over the Yuba River which is perfect for swimming. Photographer Julie Nielsen took this photo. It is 100% needle turned appliqué and hand quilted. I used embroidery floss, silk ribbon, Tsukineko inks and chalk pastels for embellishment. It took one year to complete."
The first week of Transform Your Quilting 2 is now in the books. This week you learned how create a curved flying geese block with direction from Gail Garber and how to do perfect raw-edge appliqué letters with help from Janet Stone.
Did you miss something? You can catch up with Gail and her curved flying geese in Show 2111 How to Foundation Paper Piece with Gail Garber | Contemporary Irish Chain. The Quilt Show Puzzle: Peer Through The Window
"Rose Window" by Robin Long

Robin started making Rose Window the day that Notre Dame started burning, having been to the cathedral herself and witnessed its gorgeous windows in person. When she saw the blaze, her first thought was that the windows were going to be lost forever and she wanted to make something in response to that feeling. The quilt was made using fabrics from her Kaffe Fassett stash, and she now has her own rose window that she can look at whenever she wants.
