Featured Quilt - First Place Pictorial Large - Houston 2022
The Memories That Remain by Lynn Czaban won First Place in the Pictorial Large category at the 2022 Houston International Quilt Festival. The quilt's subject matter was derived from two photographs by Ben Shahn, from October 1935, in the public domain and documented in the Library of Congress. As to what the quilt is about, Lynn says, "I imagined this gentleman gazing wistfully into the distance, thinking of a life well lived and the woman
he loved."

Texas Tech: Accurate Quilt Patterns
|
|
|
Proper and Precise Instructions
One of the reasons that Mountain Mist batting wrapper patterns were so popular was because they were very accurate. If a quilter followed the cutting directions a beautiful quilt would result. Learn the history of these very accurate patterns in the latest from the Museum of Texas Tech University.

"Set Fire To The Sky" by Colette Dumont
With Set Fire To
The Sky, Colette wanted to test some very fine point paper piecing, so fine you wouldn't be able to make the quilt without it. The center represents a fire as it makes its way to the outside blue fabric, which in this case is the sky. The quilt won Best of Show at Quilt Canada 2022.
And when looking at the quilt, be sure to check out the glorious detail photos of Set Fire To The Sky to marvel in all of its beaded glory.
