Featured Quilt - First Place Hand Quilting / Handmade at Houston 2021
Somewhere in the World by Chinami Terai won First Place in the Hand Quilting / Handmade category at Houston 2021. Chinami says on her inspiration for her work, "In this quilt, I made colorful towns, trees, and a bright sky. I think that those towns exist somewhere in the world. While I was quilting I hoped the townspeople are peaceful, bright, and have a happy life." With exquisite Hand Piecing, Appliqué, Embroidery, and Quilting,
we're sure everyone in Chinami's towns are as delightfully happy as those viewing her quilt.

"Yes Ma'am Damn!" by Patty Murphy
Patty writes in her blog, "Yes Ma’am Damn! was named for my friend. She tells me I was “raised right” because I always say ma’am when responding to her. My friend is in her early sixties, so it seems to me that it’s a polite reply. She is a quilter and got me onto a batik strip piecing kick. I took all my odds and ends of batik strips and stitched them together, cut the pieces into squares, then triangles, then assembled the parts."
