Featured Quilt - First Place Pieced at Houston 2022

Last week Alex spoke with the amazing Amy Pabst in one of her live interviews. Today, we are featuring one of Amy's quilts that just won an award at the Houston International Quilt Festival. Amy's quilt, Heat Lightning, won First Place in the Pieced category at Houston 2022. Why did it win the piecing category you may ask? It might have something to do with the 9,696 PIECES involved. On it's construction, Amy says, "This quilt was foundation pieced on a 1947 Singer Featherweight machine. There are 9,696 pieces."

Do you love Jane Austen novels? Teacher Karen Gloeggler does and in Show 1405 she shares how to find, and then incorporate vintage fabrics, handkerchiefs, and doilies into your quilts to give them a Jane Austen flair.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: See The Sites, Make Memories

"Tour of the Mediterranean" by Judy Ahlborn

Tour of the Mediterranean is one in a series of quilts Judy created highlighting sites in the Mediterranean that were inspired by pictures she took while on a cruise with her daughter after she graduated college. Since they didn't get many souvenirs, the photos were their souvenirs and she wanted to create quilts with them to hang in her home and remind her of their trip together. This one features some spectacular architecture.
